Ingredients
  

Pretzel Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
Baking Soda Bath
  • 6 cups water
  • ¼ cup baking soda
Topping
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Coarse sea salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Prepare the Dough In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead Knead the dough for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Shape the Bites Roll dough into long ropes and cut into 1-inch bite-sized pieces.
  4. Prepare Baking Soda Bath Bring water to a boil, then carefully add baking soda.
  5. Boil the Dough Drop pretzel bites into the water for 20–30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Finish & Serve Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt. Serve warm.
