Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Add the softened cream cheese to a medium mixing bowl and stir until smooth.
- Add the shredded chicken, Monterey Jack cheese, salsa, green chiles, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix until evenly combined.
- Warm the tortillas in small batches under a damp paper towel for 20 to 30 seconds, or until flexible.
- Place approximately 2 tablespoons of filling near one edge of each tortilla.
- Roll each tortilla tightly around the filling and place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Lightly brush or spray the taquitos with oil.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Allow them to cool for three to five minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or your preferred dipping sauce.
Air Fryer Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F if required by your model.
- Arrange the rolled taquitos seam-side down in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket.
- Lightly spray the taquitos with oil.
- Air fry for six to nine minutes, turning halfway through if needed, until crisp and golden.
Notes
- Warm the tortillas before rolling to prevent cracking.
- Use thick salsa so the filling does not become watery.
- Do not add more than two tablespoons of filling to each tortilla.
- Flour tortillas are easier to roll, while corn tortillas produce a crunchier texture.
- Cook in batches when using an air fryer.
- Check that the filling reaches 165°F when reheating frozen taquitos.
